Microsoft Kin mobile phone review

After have manufactured more smartphones for the enterprise users in many years, Microsoft finally launched own-brand Kin (Kin.com) for consumers, and released Kin tow and Kin two models. These two mobile phones by Verizon Wireless exclusive sales finally published on May 13. With stripped-down interfaces, deep social networking integration, and a focus on very particular type of user, Microsoft is aiming for something altogether different with Kin. Now, below is a brief introduction about them.
Display
The Kin One and Two should look a little familiar -- they come off like mutated cousins of the Palm Pre. The One is short and squat, sort of disc shaped, with a smaller display that slides down into the center of the handset; the Two, meanwhile, is a larger, elongated device with a wide landscape keyboard. Both devices feature capacitive touchscreen displays (a 2.6-inch, 320 x 240 QVGA screen on the One and a 3.4-inch, 480 x 320 HVGA version for the Two) with thick, plastic coatings. Around the sides, the phones both feature the same complement of buttons: volume rockers, a dedicated camera key, a sleep / power button, plus a "back" button on the lower faces of the devices. The phones use a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, take micro-USB cables, and have cameras equipped with LED flashes on their backs.
Internals
Both the One and the Two sport the Tegra APX2600 CPU -- the same as in the Zune HD, so you've got plenty of horsepower -- and have 256MB of DDR RAM on-board. The One has a paltry 4GB of storage for your pics, music, and video, while the Two ups the game to 8GB... Neither of the devices support microSD. The devices have light and proximity sensors, an accelerometer, and GPS chips inside, along with 802.11b/g, EvDO Rev. A, and Bluetooth 2.1 (which supports A2DP and AVRCP profiles).
Camera
Now Microsoft has been making a big deal out of the cameras on these phones, having equipped the One with a 5 megapixel shooter, and the Two with an 8 megapixel version that does wait for it... 720p video. For starters, just the act of trying to take a photo with the hardware buttons on these phones is really quite uncomfortable; somehow, both the One and Two seem to force your hand into a position where you're blocking the lens with a finger or two. On the One, it's usually good for taking a picture after a firm press, but sometimes there's no reaction at all, while on the Two, it tends to focus in and out and then never snap a photo. Both the One and Two are equipped with autofocus lenses, though the One seemed to struggle much less with focusing in on subjects. On the other hand, its images looked more washed out to us. To sum up, taking still photos with both Kin devices was a frustrating, unrewarding affair that yielded more bad than good.
On the video aspect, as we mentioned, it's capable of shooting 720p video. With a Zune Pass subscription and Zune software on your PC, you can listen to millions of songs from Zune Marketplace on your KIN while on the go, or load from your personal collection. What is worth mentioning, Kin One and Kin Two become the first mobile phones support Zune player in global. But what should I do, if I don’t have Zune videos? I search this question on Google and I find good software –Nidesoft video converter which could convert video or audio files between all popular formats to convert AVI file to MPEG-4 format. Detailed process is as follows:
Firstly, you could free download and install Nidesoft Video Converter from: http://www.nidesoft.com/downloads/video-converter.exe.
When you finished the download process, run the .exe file to install it.
Step 1: Click “Add File” button to import your videos from your computer.
Tips: Click a file in the list and you could use the preview control buttons to play the file.
Step 2: Click "Format" combo box to select the output format, such as to “Zune Video –MPEG Format (*.mp4)” for Zuen.
Step 3: Click “Convert” button to start conversion. The conversion will be completed in a short time.
Ok, now you have converted your video files to some formats which Zune player supports and you may use it more convenient. Another I also find Nidesoft DVD Ripper could rip DVD to multimedia phones’ video and music: 3GP, AVI, WMV, MP4, WMA etc. So, it is not a problem to watch your favorite DVD on mobile phone. I think these two Nidesoft software are necessary additional software for mobile phone users.
Software
Kins are labeled as a Windows Phone, but bear little resemblance to Windows Phone 7, and none at all to Windows Mobile. The interface is heavily paneled, but the panels can be all kinds of things. Feeds! Shortcuts! Twitter, MySpace and Facebook items! Contacts! Throw your screen from side to side and you move between a homescreen with links to obvious functionality, The Loop, which is a collection of social networking feeds combined with RSS feeds, and you’re Favorites. In addition, the Kins are messaging phones centered not on texts, but around the services young people actually use nowadays. It prompts you to sync with Twitter, Facebook and Myspace immediately, which it (fairly) intelligently gleans for contact information. (It's like WebOS in this respect.) Once you've got everything loaded up, your entire phone is basically overrun with social chaff, be it Twitter updates, friends' Facebook albums, or items from the surprisingly competent RSS feed reader. And beyond the features you can see and interact with on the handset itself, there's the Kin's killer app: Studio. It's basically a blown-up version of your phone, with all its contents, accessible via a web interface. Uploads are automatic and nearly constant, so when you log on, your stuff is just there.
Battery life
Microsoft told us that its goal was for users to be able to take off for a weekend road trip with these things and leave their chargers behind. In particular, the One was left off the charger quite a bit, yet still managed to go for more than two days with sporadic use.
Conclusion
Microsoft finally introduced own-brand mobile phone, which means it has position in the aspects of hardware and software. The two Kin series of phone looks very small, no good spot, but we can see Microsoft for mobile phones and music market value, and the two mobile operators will bind sales, service and mobile terminal market price don’t so high, also fit young consumers' demand. Just feel strange, Microsoft's first mobile didn't use WP7 operating systems, even the two Kin series are not smartphone. Why do Microsoft? We can only continue to focus on its further development.

New member of Android: Acer mobile phone series reviews

Acer has well and truly thrown its hat into the smartphone ring, with a slew of Android phones announced February. It’s not just the Liquid e that Acer is bringing out here at MWC 2010 and the company also has a number of o Android devices to choose from. Acer expect the beTouch E110 to arrive in March 2010, with the beTouch E400 following on in April. Across the board there’s 3G and Bluetooth, while on the E110 lacks WiFi b/g. No vast processor speeds here, though; at most you’ll get 600MHz. Both have a 3.2-megapixel camera together with GPS and a 3.5mm headphone jack. I have a short comparison summary about what the same features and what the different of both two phones.
Design
The Acer E110 is an attractive mobile phone that comes complete with 2.8 inches TFT resistive touchscreen with 240 x 320 pixels resolution that can display up to 256k (65K effective) colors. It runs on Android OS, v1.5 (Cupcake) and is powered by ST Ericsson PNX6715 416MHz processor. Weighted at 105 grams Acer E110 physically measures 103.5 x 54 x 13.4 mm.The handset is available in two colors - Black & Dark Blue
And The Acer beTouch E400 has a 3.2-inch TFT touchscreen resistive display that features a 320 x 480 pixel resolution with 256k colors. It measures 115 x 59.3 x 12 mm and weighs 125g that makes it very stylish and sleek. P300 packs an Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate, Digital compass, Acer UI and Smart LED notifications also. This smartphone works on Android OS, v2.1 and has a processor of Qualcomm 7227 600 MHz processor that renders it great functionality. It comes in Soft-touch Black, Ceramic White and Pearl colours.
Memory
The Acer E110 comes complete with 256 MB RAM, 256 MB ROM internal memory that is expandable with the microSd card slot option. While the Acer beTouch E400 feature comes complete with 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB of ROM memory that can also be expanded with microSD card slot.
Both two phones’ phonebook memory allows entry of unlimited entries and fields, Photocall in the phone and it can also store unlimited call details.
Connectivity
The Acer E110 and Acer E400 both come with EDGE Class 10, 236.8 kbps and GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots), 32 - 48 kbp technologies that gives high speed data transfer rates. The inbuilt Bluetooth Yes, v2.0 with A2DP and miniUSB connection allows the user to transfer data to another devices wirelessly. In addition, the E400 is 3G enabled phone has HSDPA at 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA 384 Kbps also embedded.
Multimedia
To keep the user entertained, both two phones come preloaded with MP3 and MP4 players that very well supports numerous music formats, such as: MP3 and WAV as well as MP4, WMV, H.264, H.263 etc and also equipped with alert options like vibration, downloadable polyphonic. The only one difference: the E110 has a stereo FM radio, but the E400 don’t have. They could not support all of video and audio formats. If I have a AVI file, what should I do? I search this question on Google and find good auxiliary software which named Nidesoft Video Converter which could convert video or audio files between all popular formats to convert AVI file to MPEG-4 format.
Step 2: Click "Format" combo box to select the output format, such as to mp4 for Sony or iPhone.
Step 3: Click “Convert” button to start conversion. The conversion will be completed in a short time.
Ok, now you have converted your AVI files to MPEG-4 format files which The E110 and E400 supports and you may use it more convenient.
Camera
The Acer E110 and E400 are equipped with 3.15 megapixel camera that comes with 2048x1536 pixels resolution that is able to capture still as well as moving video footages and video recording feature. But E400 could support autofocus, LED flash and Geo-tagging and E110 don’t support.
Battery LifeTime
The Standard Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery of the Acer E110 comprises of 400 hours of standby time and 5 hours of talk time.
The Acer beTouch E400 has a Standard Li-Po 1090 mAh battery that gives 400 hours of standby time and 5 hours of talk time to its users.
Messaging
Both two phones can keep you connected with your family and friends easily with the inbuilt with SMS, MMS, Email and instant messaging features.
Network
The Acer E110 works on 2G GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 and 3G HSDPA 850, 1900, 2100 as well as HSDPA 900, 1900, 2100 networks.
The Acer beTouch E400 comes complete with GSM Quad-band phone capable of global roaming on 2G in configuration of 850/900/1800/1900 Mhz. The 3G network enabled on phone is in HSDPA 900 / 2100 and HSDPA 850 / 900 / 2100 configuration.
Conclusion
Shame about some of the specs, removing certain aspects to reduce the cost such as WiFi, the accelerometer and compass means this handset will fail to take full advantage of Android and won't be compatible with many of the apps which take advantage and use these features. The beTouch E110 does however look stylish and will come in Black & Dark Blue so take your pick if you still interested!
Other useful functions of the E400 include the GPS-enabled Google Maps, which will help you find your way around cities and/or towns and includes both Street View and Latitude. The excellent media player will play a full range of file formats and there is a built-in 3-millimeter audio input jack allowing you to plug in your choice of headphones. There is even the very useful Acer Synch feature, allowing the user to wirelessly synchronize with their desktop or notebook so they can easily maintain and keep files and contacts up to date, which is great for when you are ultra-busy and need to save time. Now, which one do you select, Acer E110 or Acer beTouch E400?

Review new HTC Legend and Desire: which is better for video playing?

With the mobile phone market increasingly fierce competition, each big brands manufacturer is to launch new products to get bigger market. Now HTC successively introduced two phones – HTC Legend and HTC Desire in the first half of the year 2010. But which is the one for you to spend your hard-earned on? The Hero-a-like Legend or the insanely powerful but stupidly monikered Desire? Below is our brief summary.
Form/Factor Design:
These HTC smartphones share a bar-style design that's dominated by a large touchscreen display but they differ in appearance. The Legend retains the traditional Android chin in a thin aluminum body and the Desire looks similar to the Nexus One.
Touchscreen Display:
The HTC Desire is the clear winner in this category with its 3.7″ (480*800) WVGA AMOLED capacitive touch screen with pinch-to-zoom capability. The Legend comes with a 3.2″ (320*480) HVGA AMOLED capacitive touch screen with pinch-to-zoom capability
Operating System/ User Interface:
Both the Legend and the Desire run on the latest Android 2.1 OS and feature the updated Sense UI concept.
Camera:
These smartphones are more or less equal in the camera department. The Desire and Legend both come with 5 megapixel cameras. However, the Desire comes with more camera features including face detection, widescreen photo capture, geotagging, auto focus and flash
Processing Power:
Again the HTC Desire takes the cake in the processing department with its 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 512MB ROM / 576MB RAM. The Legend offer less powerful processor specs with 600MHz MSM7227 processors and 512MB ROM / 384MB RAM.
Multimedia
Both of these two phones’ music players are great. The interface is simple to use but attractive.
They support FM Radio and video recording function. Both of Legend and Desire’ build-in players support same video and audio formats. Such as: Audio supported formats: AAC, AMR, OGG, MID, MP3, WAV, WMA and recording formats: AMR; And Video supported formats: 3GP, 3G2, MP4, WMV and recording formats: 3GP etc. We find that both phones could not support DVD formats. But what should I do, if I want to play DVD files on the phone. I search this question on Google and find good software to solve this problem – Nidesoft DVD Ripper which could provide you an easy and fast way to rip DVD movies to most popular formats easily and quickly, such as: Rip DVD to MP4, Rip DVD to 3GP, DVD to WMV, etc. Below is the simple process.
Firstly, you may download this software here: http://www.nidesoft.com/downloads/dvd-ripper.exeAfter download and install this powerful software, only four steps are needed to complete the conversion.
Step 1: Insert the DVD disc into the DVD Drive.
Click the Open DVD button, browse your computer, and find the DVD folder of the movie. (It is not only load DVD disc, but also could open a disk backup’s directory.)
A DVD may have multiple titles and each title contains one or more chapters. After your DVD movie is loaded, its contents will be listed. Click “+” to show the chapters in a title. Then you can click any title or chapter to preview it in the preview window on the right.
Step 2: Click the "profile" button and select the format for your player.
Step 3: Click the "convert" button. Please wait before the conversion succeeds!
Ok, you have ripped your DVD movies to other format you want, now just enjoy it. Another, I also have a try Nidesoft Video Converter which could convert video or audio files between all popular formats. If you have some video files which your player don’t support. You may use it! I think these two software are good assistant for media player and for your HTC mobile.
Other features:
Each phone also sports the features that are becoming more standard every day: Accelerometer, GPS, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, etc. And each of these phones are a joy to use, that’s no question.
Battery:
The Desire comes on top of this category with its 1400 mAh rechargeable Lithium-ion battery with 390 mins talk time and 360 hours standby time. And the Legend comes in second with its 1200 mAh rechargeable Lithium-ion polymer battery with 440 mins talk time and 560 hours standby time.
Conclusion:
So, circling back to our earlier questions, for the extra cost of the Desire over the Legend you get a larger and sharper screen, faster processor, live wallpapers and video capture at a slightly higher resolution. On the other hand the Legend's button positions may provide better single-handed operation, and some may even prefer its silver metallic look and feel to go with certain Apple products, so you'd best get your hands on the two devices before handing over the cash.

Sony X10 V.S iPhone 3G: simple reviews and comparison

After countless fans waiting for a long time, Sony Ericsson finally introduced its first android smartphone – Sony Xperia X10. It is said that the Xperia X10 is perhaps the most promising of Sony Ericsson's confusing crop of modern smartphones, combining attractive hardware with killer specs, Android, and an intriguing custom skin. Does it hold its own against modern competitors like iPhone which most people like? And more importantly, can it keep Sony Ericsson from going over the brink? Read on to find out.
Design
The XPERIA X10 measures 119*63*13 mm and weight 135 gm and capable of displaying movies and photos in 262k colors on its high 854*480 resolution 4-inch screen.
While iPhone measures 115.5*62.1*12.3 mm and weight 135gm in16 million colors on 480*320 pixel resolution and 3.5-inch screen.
Conclusion: There is not much difference between the form factor of the two smartphones except for the fact that Xperia X10 is slightly, but unnoticeably, bigger.
OS
Xperia X10 runs on Google Android 1.6 OS while iPhone runs on the proprietary iPhone OS 3.1x.
Connectivity and wireless
Both the phones are quadband and GSM-based. Both the phones boast of 3G, WiFi, EDGE, GPRS and Bluetooth (with A2DP) and both lack infrared port.
Browser
Both have ability to optimize web pages to fit the screen and zooming in and out of web pages is a breeze. Both are also slick in checking for or doing stuff. However, unlike Xperia X10 has a Webkit web browser, iPhone comes with Safari browser which doesn't support Flash.
Storage and Memory:
Xperia X10 has 1GB onboard flash memory and microSD card slot (capable of holding up to 16GB, Xperia X10 also ships with 8GB miroSD card). On the other hand, iPhone comes with 256MB onboard flash memory and a choice of 16GB or 32GB internal storage.
Camera and video recording:
Xperia X10 boasts of a whopping 8-megapixel camera with up to 16x digital zoom, image and video stabiliser, auto-focus, touch to focus, face and smile detection, geo-tagging, LED flash and WVGA video recording (@30fps).
On the other hand, iPhone has a 3.15-megapixel camera with auto-focus, tap to focus, VGA video recording (@30fps) and geo-tagging.
Music and Video Player:
Both the smartphones support multiple audio and video playback formats. The Experia X10’s audio player offers a great number of options for filtering content and accessing additional information (via the Infinity button), but lacks equalizer. And it only supports MP3 and AAC formats. While its’ video player recognizes MPEG4 videos coded in H.264 only and does not support DivX and Xvid, which is a shame really, since the huge screen is extremely suitable for watching videos. Another, iPhone supports audio formats: AAC, MP3, WAV and video formats: MP4, H.264 and MPEG-4. Both don’t support all of video formats. If you have avi files, what should you do? I search this question on Google and find good auxiliary software which named Nidesoft Video Converter which could convert video or audio files between all popular formats to convert AVI file to MPEG-4 format.
Step 2: Click "Format" combo box to select the output format, such as to mp4 for Sony or iPhone.
Step 3: Click “Convert” button to start conversion. The conversion will be completed in a short time.
Ok, now you have converted your AVI files to MPEG-4 format files which Experia X10 and iPhone supports and you may use it more convenient.
Power and Battery:
Xperia X10 is equipped with a Li-Po 1500mAh battery that should be able to provide 8 hours of continuous talk time and keep the handset operational for 425 hours in stand-by on 3G networks. While iPhone has a built-in Li-Ion battery that ups to 10hours for talk time and 6 hours on Internet use.
Others:
Xperia X10 and iPhone have some common features such as accelerometer, Push email, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, GPS, SMS, MMS, 3.5mm audio jack, Digital Compass, Google Maps and 3D games.
With Xperia X10, you have access to Android Market and PlayNow arena from where you can download apps, movies, video podcasts, TV shows, music tracks, games etc. It also promises an intuitive UI by introducing signature social media applications like Mediascape and Timescape and also has web feeds, speakerphone, gesture control, flight mode, world clock, and pre-installed useful apps.
On the other hand, iPhone has many cool features including a landscape keyboard for all core apps; an innovative and useful implementation of cut, copy, and paste; push notifications, an improved call log that shows details like the time and length of a call; a spotlight search for searching apps, e-mail, music, and more. It also offers a very useful service called MobileMe, a feature that allows you to remotely track the location of the phone when it goes missing, backup data, wipe data from a lost or stolen phone and restore it in a new one.
Conclusion:
As you can clearly see from the comparison chart above, it really drills down to what the end-user wants from his or her phone. If you want a phone with high quality camera, then Xperia X10 is the answer since it boasts of 8.1 megapixels autofocus camera. On the other hand, one clear advantage that iPhone has over Xperia X10 is its huge number of apps offering, which is a big attraction for most users. But when it comes to sheer hardware power, Xperia X10 comes out as a clear winner. So it really comes down to what you want from your phone and which platform are you more comfortable with.

Motorola Backflip review: more fashional, functional and attractive

This was a complete surprise, but AT&T made it official in February and introduced the Motorola Backflip as its first Google Android device. The Backflip made its grand debut at CES 2010, where we awarded the smartphones category for its unique design, which includes a rear-facing QWERTY keyboard and a trackpad behind the display. Unfortunately, after now spending some time with the device, this seems to be the only real highlight of the phone. The Backflip suffers from performance issues and runs Android 1.5, making it a rather disappointing Android debut for AT&T. Now we have a close look for this model and find what the main characters of it are!
Design
The Motorola Backflip is powerful, handsome and fast. It comes with a manual keyboard and a great screen and is still only 15.3 millimeters (.6 inches) thick. They put the manual keyboard on the back side of the reverse flip. It opens like a book with the keyboard on the back being exposed at all times. The screen is also a big part of the Motorola Backflip, of course. It has a capacitive touch screen that comes in at 3.1 inches. This is an average size for a screen on a smartphone now. The physical resolution of the display is 320 by 480 or HVGA. It is not the AMOLED style. It still uses the TFT LCD style that can chew up battery time a little quicker than the AMOLED. The Backflip does come with an accelerometer to change the mode of the screen from portrait to landscape and back again automatically. This is handy for texting and for viewing web pages.
Connectives
Inside the same processor as in the CLIQ runs Android 1.5 complete with Motorola’s MOTOBLUR social networking integration. There’s triband 7.2Mbps WCDMA (850/1900/2100) and quadband GSM/EDGE, along with WiFi b/g and Bluetooth, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Storage is via microSD, with a 2GB card in the box and up to 32GB supported.
Software
Similar to the Cliq and the Motorola Devour, the Backflip uses Motoblur software, which helps merge contact information from various e-mail accounts and social networking sites, including Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Exchange, Twitter, and Picasa, into a master list. In addition, e-mails (aside from Gmail) are combined into a universal in-box and appointments are also combined into one calendar.
Multimedia
One area that remains relatively untouched by Android 2.0 is the built-in media player. You still get support for MP3, AAC, H.263, H.264, MPEG-4, WAV, MIDI, and AAC+ etc formats and support video playback. Music quality was quite good. Thanks to the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, we plugged in our Bose On-ear Headphones and enjoyed rich-sounding songs. Unfortunately, the Motorola Backflip does not support DivX and Xvid files, but at least H.264 videos with resolution of 320x480 pixels played without any issues.
But if I don’t have mp4 files, what should I do? I search this question on Google and I have good software Nidesoft Motorola Video Converter which could convert video and audio files between all popular formats such as convert AVI to MP4, MP3 to WAV, WMV to MPEG, MOV to AAC, etc. We could convert our files to mp4 format through using this software.
Detailed process is as follows:
Firstly, you could free download and install Nidesoft Motorola Video Converter from: http://www.nidesoft.com/downloads/motorola-video-converter.exe.
When you finished the download process, run the .exe file to install it.
Step 1: Click “Add File” button to import your videos from your computer.
Step 2: Click "Format" combo box to select the output format.
Step 3: Click “Convert” button to start conversion. The conversion will be completed in a short time.
Ok, now you have converted your AVI files to MPEG-4 format files which MOTO phone supports and you may use it more convenient.
Camera
The camera is a five megapixel model with LED flash, autofocus, geotagging and video. The Backflip can record at 25 frames per second in the MP4 (MPEG-4) format. This is nothing to write home about but is acceptable.
Battery life
The Backflip ships with a 1400mAh lithium-ion battery with a rated talk time of 6 hours and up to 13.5 days of standby time. We are still conducting our battery drain tests but will update this section as soon as we have final results. According to FCC radiation tests, the Backflip has a digital SAR rating of 1.37 watts per kilogram.
Conclusion
Although in some hardware, MOTOROLA Backfip does not calculate very prominent, but in the fuselage on modeling and the system optimization, Motorola deserves credit for trying an innovative design and for offering a unique way of moving fingers off of the touch screen. But the Android machine, how to compare common problems homogeneity let a person shine at the moment, is the most difficult problem. The manufacturers can back flip smartphone also succeeded half and the other half, still need to test by customer.

MOTO milestone review: how to enjoy dvd and video with your mobile phone

In 2008, the MOTO Company has said, foreign markets development center will turn Android operating system. Since then, the development of Gphone industry will focus on MOTO For a long time, the MOTO users has been looked forward to its new product, until the Droid (BBS, offer, picture, and parameter) published, just let everyone believed MOTO - with Android operating system the return of the king. So, Motorola are back with a bang and the MILESTONE is one of the best spec’s phones to ever run Android
Display
This is one of the thinnest landscape-sliding QWERTY devices available on the market. Its overall footprint is similar to the iPhone 3GS, except for the fact that it’s slightly thicker (13.7mm) because of the inclusion of the physical QWERTY. It is rather big (116 x 60 x 13.7mm) and heavy (169g). In addition, it is the first Android phone to sport a 3.7” TFT touch screen at 480 x 854 with support for up to 16 million colors. Flipping it over to its back, it has the 5-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash towards the upper portion while the external speaker grid is lined up towards the bottom. When removing the metal back cover, the battery and microSD card slot will be exposed.
Battery
According to the manufacturer, the battery of the Motorola MILESTONE should be able to provide 6.5hrs of continuous talk time and keep the device operational for 350hrs in standby.
Interface
MOTOROLA Milestone is the first to have the latest build of Android – version 2.0 and has been taken several improvements than old version. Firstly, the system interface visual effect is more outstanding. Some ICONS on the edge design beautification and whole feels more clean and neat. One thing we found useful quite often was the Google Search function to accomplish a mix of operations. You can execute the search by holding down the dedicated touch sensitive button – which will then prompt you to speak. Although no built-in MOTO Blur interface, but the MOTOROLA Milestone is been introduced double-click zoom function. In our web, you just can zoom via double taps; the current web page can be realized zoom. It is not only convenient browse, but in operation tiny hyperlinks function is also help.
Connectivity
The Motorola MILESTONE is a quad band GSM with dual band 3G (900/2100MHz) that allows for fast, wireless internet connectivity on networks across Europe and Asia. Naturally, you can use the Wi-Fi anytime if there is a hotspot nearby. Motorola has promised support for Flash 10 in the first half of 2010, but until then you will have to put up with the fact you simply cannot relish the full beauty of the Internet. The HTC Hero has the advantage of being able to visualize Flash elements, but scrolling is more sluggish on the overall. All told, the Motorola MILESTONE is equipped with one of the best web browsers on Android handsets today.
Camera
The 5-megapixel camera takes pictures in three resolutions and boasts a slick user interface. Fortunately, Android fixes that problem by adding four white balance settings, several "scene" modes (night, landscape, sunset, and so on), three image quality choices, an autofocus, a macro setting, and seven color effects. The Droid also has a dual-LED flash.
Camcorder settings are fewer, but you can edit the video quality and the length allowed for each clip. You can film for 30 seconds if you're adding the video to a multimedia message, but you can go for up to 30 minutes in normal mode. Video quality is actually fairly good--it could handle action better than its Android counterparts and there was little pixelation. Indeed, a closer look at the specs told us why. Not only do videos record at a 720 x 480 resolution, the Droid films at 24 frames per second (fps) (video playback can go up to 30fps).
Multimedia
One area that remains relatively untouched by Android 2.0 is the built-in media player. There aren't any major enhancements to the player in terms of interface or functionality, which is too bad. You still get support for MP3, AAC, AMR-NB, WAV, MIDI, and Windows Media Audio 9 formats and the player includes shuffle, repeat, and playlist creation. As it is right now, you have to use the old drag-and-drop method using the USB cable or sideload them using a microSD card.
Music quality was quite good. Thanks to the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, we plugged in our Bose On-ear Headphones and enjoyed rich-sounding songs. Unfortunately, the Motorola MILESTONE does not support DivX and Xvid files, but at least H.264 videos with resolution of 720x306 pixels played without any issues.
But if I don’t have mp4 files, what should I do? I search this question on Google and I have a good software Nidesoft Video Converter which could convert video and audio files between all popular formats such as convert AVI to MP4, MP3 to WAV, WMV to MPEG, MOV to AAC, etc. We could convert our files to mp4 format through using this software.
Detailed process is as follows:
Firstly, you could free download and install Nidesoft Video Converter from: http://www.nidesoft.com/downloads/video-converter.exe.
When you finished the download process, run the .exe file to install it.
Step 1: Click “Add File” button to import your videos from your computer.
Step 2: Click "Format" combo box to select the output format.
Step 3: Click “Convert” button to start conversion. The conversion will be completed in a short time.
Ok, now you have converted your AVI files to MPEG-4 format files which MOTO phone supports and you may use it more convenient.
Email, calendar, and contacts
The Droid now offers native Microsoft Exchange synchronization out of the box for email, calendar, and contacts, in addition to support for Gmail and POP3 and IMAP accounts. With Android 2.0, you can have messages from various accounts displayed in one unified in-box; messages are color-coded by account so you can visually differentiate them at a glance.
Unfortunately (well, depending on your preference), it doesn't appear that you can combine work and personal calendars as you can on the Palm Pre. Instead, you'll find separate apps for your corporate calendar and your personal one.
With the support for various accounts, contact management could get a bit dodgy, but the Droid offers a pretty smart contact management system. Similar to the Palm WebOS Synergy feature, the Droid merges contact information from various accounts, Exchange, Gmail, and Facebook, and combines them on a single contact card for an individual.
Android Market
You can download free and paid apps and games from the Android Market. The Market's interface received a much-needed upgrade with 1.6--we like the white background and the more intuitive search. Android 2.0 doesn't appear to offer any additional changes, which is fine in the short term. Of course, you must store apps on the handset's integrated memory, which is limited to 512MB ROM and 256MB RAM. The Droid's memory card slot is only for saving photos, music, and other attachment files. You get a 16GB card in the box, but the slot is compatible with cards up to 32GB.
Conclusion:
Hands down, the Motorola MILESTONE is one of the best smartphones on the market today. The build quality is great and the device sports awesome functionality, including capable browser and probably the best camera found on Android phones today. On the other hand, the MILESTONE is not exactly exemplary in terms of advanced software. All told, the Motorola MILESTONE is an excellent device that is one of the first steps in the comeback of the manufacturer. We hope to see more MOTO models based on the Android operating system; after all, MOTOROLA in Android market has brought us much surprise.

Palm Pre Plus vs iPhone 3Gs: review and enjoy video or dvd with them.

Now that Palm Pre Plus phone has been revealed, the question everyone is asking is how it does compare to the other current top smartphones on the market? Moreover, is it worth switching to Palm Pre Plus from your current device? Now, I have narrowed down my choices to Palm Pre Plus and iPhone 3G S and I’ve had a really tough time choosing between the two: Display
Palm Pre Plus features a 3.1-inch multitouch screen with 24-bit color. Measuring 100.5mm (H) X 59.5mm (W) X 16.95mm (D), the phone offers 320x480 pixel screen resolution.
On the other hand, iPhone 3G S comes with 3.5-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen display with also 320 x 480 pixels. The phone measures 115.5 x 62 x 12.3 mm.
Operating system
iPhone's current model runs on iPhone 3.1 OS. The phone is powered by ARM Cortex A8 processor. Among key features, the upgraded software now lets users cut, copy & paste, a sorely missed feature in the iPhone 2.0. iPhone 3.0 also offers multimedia messaging capability with the new 3.0 software allowing users to send each other photographs from the phone.
Palm Pre Plus run on Palm webOS Platform around web-based information, which is where so much of your life resides. Palm webOS helps you stay connected to all of it, so you don't miss a thing.
Battery life
Apple claims that iPhone 3G S supports up to 12 hours of talk time, 30 hours of audio, 9 hours of Wi-Fi, 10 hours on video playback, and 5 hours of 3G talk time.
According to Palm website, Pro Plus will offer talk time of up to 5.5 hours and standby time of 350 hours. But it is not released video time and audio time.
App Advantage
Apple iPhone App Store iTunes offers people over 90,000 apps. Palm apps have the ability to access and share information with each other, which means they can do more for you. Choose from apps like Facebook, Yelp, LinkedIn, Pandora, NFL SuperFan, and The New York Times. With over 1,000 available and more added each week, chances are you’ll find the ones you want.
Multimedia
Palm Pre Plus offers a 3 megapixel camera (with no auto focus and LED flash). It has build-in flash and multimedia player and supports: MPEG-4, H.263, H.264 etc video formats and MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR, QCELP, WAV, etc audio formats.
And the third-gen iPhone packs a 3 megapixel camera with video capturing, auto-focus mechanism and editing capabilities. The earlier two versions shipped with only a 2 megapixel camera each. And it also has multimedia player, but supports: MPEG-4, H.263, H.264, M4V&MP4, etc video formats and MP3, AAC, AIFF, WAV, VBR &Apple lossless, etc audio formats.
Both are good multimedia smartphone and support many video and audio formats. But, if you has a AVI file, how to play it with both two smartphone? I get answer from Google search. You may try Nidesoft Video Converter which could convert video or audio files between all popular formats to convert AVI file to MPEG-4 format.
Step 2: Click "Format" combo box to select the output format, such as to mp4 for iPhone.
Step 3: Click “Convert” button to start conversion. The conversion will be completed in a short time.
Ok, now you have converted your AVI files to MPEG-4 format files which iPhone 3GS and Palm Pro Plus supports and you may use it more convenient.

As for memory
Palm Pre Plus packs 512meg RAM, 16 gigs storage (15GB user available) and support USB mass storage.
Apple's third generation iPhone comes in two memory options, 16GB and 32GB. The phone has 256MB RAM. But iPhone 3GS doesn't have a card slot for further memory expansion, which is a sore point.

Let's talk performance. The short version is that the iPhone 3GS still renders web pages slightly faster and can load 3D games faster - but it can't multitask more than Apple's core apps. The iPhone 3GS edges out the Palm Pre Plus on both the Browser speed test and loading up Need for Speed Undercover. The iPhone also, incidentally, blows the doors off webOS when it comes to the number and quality of available games. But the Palm Pre Plus did some door-blowing of its own - you're able to pause the game and pick up right where you left off because of the card multitasking system. If you like this version of Palm, you may get more information from Palm website.

Is it a bigger iPhone: Apple's new iPad review

Switch between widescreen and full screen with a double-tap. Because iPad is essentially one big screen, with no distracting keypad or buttons, you feel completely immersed in whatever you’re watching.

Firstly, you may download this software here: http://www.nidesoft.com/downloads/dvd-ripper.exe

I think these two software are good assistant for media player and for your mobile and iPad.

Web Browsing
The web browsing works really well. Just imagine an iPhone / iPod touch, but faster and with a big display. At this game, the iPad beats any other tablet that I've seen, by far. I tried some popular sites and they all work, but Flash is still not supported. As Google has shown with Google Voice, web apps are the way to get around Apple's approval.

Gaming
All the games that were demonstrated today were iPhone games in 480x240 that were stretched to 1024x768 using a good upscaling filter - it does look a little fuzzy but don't expect any miracles: the original content is very small. This is good news that changing resolution is very easy for developers, but it is harder to design new user interfaces that take advantage of the higher resolution. We know that Apple devices are a huge gaming platform, but "hardcore" gamers that need a pad or a keyboard+mouse will probably continue to criticize a touch interface for good reasons. The conclusion is that you can't be everything to everyone - it's that simple.

Conclusion
Through the above characteristics, I think iPad is a lovely device that gadget fans will lust after. From the new A4 processor to new iBookstore, apple iPad release just bring a slab of apple computer, also brought more applications, this will change the derivative mobile interconnection of many people life style
